Yes. Governments often get squashed in local elections but this lot could get marmalised. Tough on local councillors who have had nothing to do with Labour's tax moves in Whitehall, but there it is.

I agree totally with tigerlily. I have always been a good citizen and voted but I am about to opt out for the first time.

All the political parties wil claim some sort of victory in order to save face, but in all probability it will be the Lib Dems who will pick up the protest vote

Totally agree with novalis. Why do local councillors have to belong to a particular political party?

They should be voted in on their merits ie each individual councilor should be prepared to offer up his/her time to work towards improving their Cities/Towns for the benefit of it's citizens, regardless of any political objective.
