in todays papers there is a story about a builder knocking down ,with a sledgehammer, a porch and dismantling a conservatory to re use because the lady of the house did,nt pay up, bouncing cheques and showing no desire to settle.
i intend to work for myself and this is a big motive for not doing it as i do not want to end up in this situation, but in todays world people don,t seem to behave fairly pushing you into a corner
i agree with the builder as he said he felt she was laughing at him. what do you think?
Read that story as well, he went to a lot of work putting it up and a lot of work pulling it down but
some situations need drastic measures to be resolved. It was unfair not to pay him,and no one likes being made a mug of!
I think the builder was right ..if you are having a
big job done you would normally pay the builder
a lump sum to start the job ..and the rest in
stages ..she was on a rip off and it didn't
work . So it's bad luck that she has to pay
to get rid of the rubble !! It cost the guy money
but why go to court as that cost mega bucks ...
Well done to him !!!!
And congratulations to the council - the house is council owned, and they agreed to the demolition.
The council will be billing the lady for restoring the house to it's former condition,.
Common sense at last.
It does greatly annoy me that so many people think it is okay to run up huge debt, and go bankrupt or find other ways to avoid paying. It's not always big companies that lose out.
I think he did exactly the right thing - good for him! Technically as he hadn't been paid for the work it still belonged to him so he was entitled to remove it.
