Cats bring in all sorts. I know of cats who bring in bits of wood, paper, socks off of washing lines even! It could be that at 10 months yours is not up to hunting yet and bread is easier to catch than a bird or mouse! He may well progress to that later - just be prepared.
aww I hope it isnt practising to catch mice and stuff :( One of our cats brings us 'presents' all the time and its horrible.
our cats have fetched all sorts of stuff besides their catch, one of them once fetched one of those plastic alien necklaces on a ribbon and one once brought back a rat trap complete with a massive rat.
I think they just take a fancy to something and bring it back home. Bit like kids pick up all sorts and put it in their pockets.
I hated the presents that my cat brought home.............lol I moved out when he brought a live mouse to me...............environmental health must of thought I was mad
be prepared, as bensmum has said..................he/she is in training
thanks all, good advise,he's a bit of a bully even for being so young as he tends to boss about the other cats in the area and i think i might have mice under my decking as he spends hours just staring at it close up,i reckon i'm going to have trouble with him as he gets older/bigger and stronger.
UPDATE: in the past three weeks he has brought in three dead/two live mice ,one dead starling, one live blue tit(relased safely) and had a fight with a pair of magpie's (he came off worse),i feel sorry for the birds(and mice) so we put a bell on his collar and so far so good....he's a MONSTER......!
