I have been flashed runnig a red light by 2.1 seconds. I was clocked at 70 mph in a 40mph zone....It was a complete error of judgement on my part as I thought it safer to continue rather than stop rather suddenly.

i think im gonna get disqualified what do you think

With two offences it could well be likely

"they could be disqualified (if they were driving at 30 mph over the speed limit). The minimum disqualification is 21 days if they are convicted of driving at 40 mph over the speed limit."

From a legal website and that was just for speeding......
can only hope!
Forget the red light jumping for a moment.

You will not be offered a fixed penalty for the speeding they are only offered for speeds up to 66 in a 40 zone. Magistrates sentencing guidelines suggest a fine of one weeks net income (reduced by a third if you plead guilty) plus either six points or a ban of up to 56 days.

The red light offence carries three points and a fine if charged alone. However, when multiple motoring offences arise from the same incident, points or a disqualification are only awarded for the most serious.

My view is that in addition to two fines, you are likely to be disqualified for 42-56 days. Magistrates will view your actions as serious enough to warrant a ban for the single offence of speeding as this will be aggravated by your jumping a red light.

Dont try the mitigation that you have put forward here (...safer to continue than to stop). You overshot the red light by 2 seconds. Amber alone (which also means stop) is shown for usually at least 2 seconds for lights in a 40 zone. In those four seconds you would have travelled over 400 feet. The minimum stopping distance (as per the Highway Code formula, which most modern cars can better anyway) from 70mph is 315 feet. Magistrates can do sums and they will realise your explanation is unfounded.
How can doing 70mph in a 40 mph be an error??
i hope you crash into an elephant.
What did the elephant do to deserve that? I think his car should be crushed.
sorry but whatever you get is not enough , take for example a family in a car waiting for the lights to change and they set off and you broadside them , sorry you need to re take your licence again before you kill some poor unfortunate victim .....
Another green name wind up.

These normally get posted in Motoring, and are intended to get Mr Angry of Tunbridge Wells bright red.
Did the poster of this question once work for Jackanory?
Perhaps he once played for Chelsea in which case all is explained.....
I want to complain about Mamjet's reply. Why should the elephant suffer? It was probably minding its own business, sticking to the traffic rules, and certainly not dashing through any red lights. Take that reply back Mamjet (please).
