I have discovered that I have just fallen pregnant and am now worried that I wasn't taking folic acid. Should I start now or is it too late?

Personally, I don't think there's any need to tale extra folic acid at all, providing you eat healthily, and include lots of green vegetables. Better to get it from a fresh source, than out of a bottle, but I'm sure your baby'll be fine anyway. keep everyone up to date hun - x

Start taking them now chick, not to worry that you hadn't before, it's definatly not too late. The daily amount is 400ml, but if you buy from chemist, the dose will be on the packet.
I take Pro-Natal Senatogen multy-Vit that contains 400ml plus everything else! If you've been eating bananas, that contains folic acid anyway!
Congrats on your pregnancy and join the bump club with us! I'm due in 4 weeks ahhh! ;0)

You should take it up to 12 weeks. The reason you take it is that it helps seal the spine, so it helps prevent your baby developing spina bifida. So if you are under 12 weeks pregnant then take it, you probably get enough of it anyway if you eat a good diet but in todays day and age not everyone does.
