Not sure if this is the correct section, but can anyone suggest what you can do to eliminate garlic breath. After I have eaten something with garlic, even after brushing my teeth a few times and using mouthwash, I still feel the smell is very strong and feel aware of it when near other people. Maybe I am being over-sensitive!

Never tried it but I've heard that if you eat a sprig of parsley it takes the smell and taste away.
this garlic breath thing is interesting. i love garlic, the more the better, but my husband really hates it or anything with the slightest hint of it. i don't consider 'garlic breath' to be bad breath, to me it just shows that the person has been eating garlic. but my husband likens 'garlic breath' to the worst bad breath a person could ever have and finds it totally repulsive, not just on me but anyone he notices it on.
there is no 'cure' for garlic breath, chewing on a large bit of parsley or a cardamon pod are said to help, but the only real way not to have 'garlic breath' is not to eat any garlic.

Thank you both for the replies - it seems parsley is the answer (yuk).
I agree that 'garlic breath' is not offensive, but am very aware that some people do consider it bad breath.
Chewing on a coffee bean is said to work but never tried it myself.
Not a lot of help to 'ethandron' but if two of you eat garlic you can't smell it on each other's breath. My wife and i both love lots of garlic in things and it's never a problem.
Which also leads me to ask the second poster if 'gelda' is your real name as it's my wife's name and I've seldom come across it before.

Chewing fennel seeds helps
Please believe me when I say that (as a non-garlic eater)garlic breath is truely and deeply repulsive!
I think you are right and polite to be aware of your breath sanden. Sitting in a concert/show in front of someone who has been eating garlic is a miserable experience.
Also, does garlic make people burp more? It seems to be that way - although of course I prob wouldn't notice them burping if it didn't stink.
Beginning to feel a bit queasy!
Pickled pink ginger, the type you often see served with sushi, is excellent for removing odours from the tongue.
You can find it in a lot of supermarkets nowadays.
I recall a French chef saying that if you removed the central part of a clove (the bit that is often green) then you wo`nt have garlic breath.
