Whenever I copy downloaded mp3's onto a cd they will only play on a pc or dvd player, but not on normal cd players. Does anyone know why this is?

Home burnt compilation CDs either won't start or tend to jump after about the first 12 tracks or so. If I copy a complete CD it works OK. I checked this with Technics and they told me the technology has changed over that time and nothing can be done to upgrade my player. A CD player I recently got free with a purchase plays them fine as does the car player. I buy most of my music from iTunes now and the next step will be an ipod which I will use to play back through the same system.
Are you sure when burning your CD with Nero or Easy Cd Creator or whatever program you use, that you are choosing to 'make an Audio CD'.? You maybe inadvertantly making a 'Data CD', which writes the mp3 files in their original data form. PC's and most DVD players will play Data CD's, but for a CD player to play a disc, it needs to be burnt as an Audio disc.
