My cousin presented her with a posy of flowers when she was 3. The Queen told her she looked very pretty to which my cousin replied 'Thank you, but mummy couldn't find my clean socks so I have yesterday's dirty ones on inside out !!'
The look on my Auntie's face was priceless !
I would probably say, "What gives YOU the right to have a huge income, a large house or three, loads of slaves (sorry, *ahem* servants) and your own taxi service, just because of who your parents were.....just what have YOU done to deserve all this ?" I reckon both the French and the Russians had the right idea...
just sounds like sour grapes jugglering, people all over the world are born into wealth, they are not bad people because of it, their staff are not slaves, they are well paid like most of the work force.

The tourism trade that they bring in more than covers their expenses
Well I'm not happy having these upper class , out of touch , idiots representing my country.
And I did do not have the right to vote them out.

They make the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Lets just see what the populas want and take a vote on it.

There are countries who still maintain their identities without a royal family. Cazz the tourist trade does very well in France, Germany and Russia with out the royals being there. It just means that instead of the money going to them the money will come to the country. I wouldn't want to be her. My kids might not be perfect but at least they work for a living. Not only would we lose the royal family but the hangers on as well who don't actually do anything either. Nothing to do with sour grapes just the unwillingness to fork out for a defunct and pointless institution.
We don't need them.
I wouldn't have anything to say to her. The only thing I have in common with her is that she, just like me will die one day.
No, not sour grapes at all Cazzz.... Like RandyRaven says, we had no choice in their election to their superior position. As far as I am concerned, they have not earned their position in society, have not really worked for a living and really don't seem to have a clue about how real folk survive, live, exist (whatever) in this day and age.... If they had proved themselves to be brilliant, awesome leaders in difficult circumstances, then I could understand them being awarded gongs etc but as far as I can see, they've not done anything to *EARN* the rewards they seem to take for granted. Just because tourists find them fascinating doesn't mean that they should have all these perks... surely ?
