. net framework
i appear to have both 1.1 and 2.0 versions of .net framework on my laptop. my question is do i need them both? if not is it ok yo uninstall the 1.1 version

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.generally updates replace the previous version ... so there is no need for 1 if you install 2 etc - however .net can be a bit odd ... some apps "know" what versions are available and follow the rules .... some will test for a particular version ... and if it's not there will refuse to work even though a later version is installed.
so the answer is .... possibly - it depends on the software you use
you need to suck it and see (what the hell does that actually mean??? is there a link with grannies and eggs???).
I have a couple of .net testers ... and they both report the versionS that are installed not the latest one.
and microsoft says ".NET Framework 3.5 builds incrementally" - which I read as needing the others

thanks AC i think i get the gist of that link,and think i`ll leave it as it is for the time being.i did try to install something av few weeks ago (can`t remember what now) that wanted framework 2.5 i think so i would`nt download.am i right in saying that if i uninsall 1.1 and 2,then install 3.5 that will be ok?.thanks for your help
