I keep getting this message when I try and install something from a CD-ROM. It stops me and I can't get past it: 16 bit Windows Substream. C:WindowsSystem32AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application.........Close..........Ignore.

What does this mean? What shall I do?

I had this problem.  i don't actually know what it means butI found the answer on the microsoft website in the 'help' section.

Basically I had to create three files - autoexec.nt  config.nt and another oner which I can't remeber. Then had to paste these into the System32 folder and this solved it.

Sorry I can't remember exactly where I got the solution but there is a search facility ion the microsoft site and if you type in the message it should find the answer.
