I have 2 chicken kievs (the processed type). The "USE BY" date was the 27th...safe to eat or should I bin them. I hate wasting food. I always forget how short the shelf life of these things are!

Almost certainly safe if kept refrigerated, but is it worth eating them then spending subsequent hours wondering if you are starting to feel sick or just imagining it.....?

I'd bin them.
Look at the list of preservatives...let that be your guide!

No artificial preservatives
There is a more pragmatic way of looking at it. How long was their absolute shelf life ?

For example, you may buy today a packet of cold ham that has a Use By of a whole month hence, and that surely is going to be fine for several days after 'expiry'. Something much more perishable, like shellfish, not so. How long were the kievs dated from the time you bought them ?

I'd still bin them !

I bought them on Friday (25th)...so only 2 days left! I wish I had looked when I bought them! I just assumed they'd be good for at least a week
No preservatives? Chicken?...bin them.

I've chucked them now...lesson learnt!! Will check dates before I buy things in the future! Thanks folks
