Anyone tried using charcoal with a calor gas barbeque.....?

I love the flavour it gives-but miss it.
I thought it might be possible to sit a foil BBQ tray of charcoal directly on the two existing calor gas burners....?

why would you want to do that. Just buy a normal BBQ and use charcoal.

We already bought the gas BBQ and thought it might be a good way to get the best of both worlds....

You can't beat a charcoal BBQ.
However you can buy Lava Rock to use with a gas BBQ which supposedly gives the effect of charcoal.

As my BBQ is charcoal I have never used it.
You should be able to find iti n your local diy or garden centre.
