but you never had any actual proof. What would you do? Go on your hunch or stay quiet?

be aware that having lost her son for 15 years, she might be slightly resentful towards those that assume her sons burried her under the patio, and not thrilled to see the police at the door. But if she were my neighbour, id likely be similarly concerned

Panic over. The police say that Mrs.F is away staying with friends for a few weeks and that she is fine. (they checked) I think the son intentionally tried to wind us all up by trying to make us think something was afoot, even the Police thought so. Thanks for your help.
Hi mary - You cared! I had a similar worry with a neighbour, turned out everything was o.k in the end ( I called the police also ) At least you have peace of mind! xxx
better safe than sorry, eh.
Well done to you and your caring neighbours mary.
If the son is a nasty piece of work then the police will have made him aware that there are people very close to home who are watching him. If he is a genuinely nice guy then he will have been pleased that his mother has such caring neighbours. Either way, it's a good result.
I'm glad things have turned out well. Rest assured, you did the right thing.

It makes me wonder why she's gone to stay with friends if her delightful son has only just returned from 15 years away. Hmmmm.
