nVidia Antialiasing with XP
4 Answers
It's probably staring me in the face, but how do you enable antialiasing on a GeForce3 Ti500 card under Windows XP? When i used to run Windows ME, the drivers that nVidia supplied let you control the antialiasing manually (2x, 4x, Quinicunx etc), but since i've been using Windows XP Pro i can't seem to find the option to turn it on/select the type. I'm using the latest drivers version 30.82. - Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope to get rid of those jaggies...

The "3D Antialiasing" Settings should be the default tab you start on, from there you should be able to. If you cant you might want to try the 23.11 Detonator Drivers as they have proved to be very good with GeForce2/3. You can get them from here: http://www.guru3d.com/files/

Thanks for your help, i'm sure i've still got the 23.11 drivers backed up on a CD somewhere, i'll give them a spin. Didn't realise until just now, that nVidia have released a new set of drivers recently (40.41) so i'm downloading those to try them out. They claim up to a 25% increase in performance, but i'll believe it when i see it in 3DMark2001! (you never know, i might be pleasantly surprised). Re: enabling Antialiasing with my current drivers, when i click the Advanced button on the Settings tab, a new box pops up but there's no GeForce3 Ti500 tab - five tabs, the second of which is 'Adapter'. When i click it, it lists the correct card under Adapter Type and there's a Properties button. When i click that, it just opens up the properties accessable from Device Manager. There are no Direct3D tabs, no OpenGL, and no Antialiasing like there were in the Windows 98/ME drivers. - It's really annoying, most new games let you select antialiasing from the in game options menu, but i have some older games that i still like playing that don't have antialiasing options, and i liked to be able to improve the look of the game by smoothing out the rough edges! (also, it's possible to run older games with 4x antialiasing without suffering from slowdown) Oh well, thanks again for your help. I'll try these new drivers, and if they're the same then i'll give the 23.11's a go. :)
