Child Support
4 Answers
Can anyone tell me, A friend of mine has a son. She is divorced, her ex-husband is with a new partner. He is expecting a baby with his new partner. He has now told my friend he is cutting her child support when his new child arrives by 40 per month. Question, Can he do this? And, can he do this on his own say-so? Many thanks - Merlin .

My ex is a right s**t when it comes to maintenance and after 7yrs of fighting him (difficult cos of the abuse I suffered during our marriage) I have finally found the courage to use the CSA. I have been told I will be getting a lot more than I have, and they will enforce it. If it is done through the CSA, your friends ex will have to discuss it with them. I wouldn't think they will change anything until the baby is born, as circumstances may change. Tell her to discuss it with the CSA even if she doesn't currently use them, they have been really supportive to me. Good luck, let me know how it goes.
Have just heard from the csa today, and they've told me the amount my ex has to start paying......a lot more than he has! I should get my first payment next month...if he pays of course!
Merlin, according to the booklet that came with my letter, they will reduce the child support if your ex has a child he lives with, but not until that child is born. Hope this helps.
