Apparently it is the Google artists theme.
It's an example of the new Google 'artist themes'. If you don't like it, you can change it to one of these others:

Thanks for that so what would maracas represent as a theme?
buenchico..i been reading your answers for a while and have noticed that you are obviously very intelligent/well educated, was just wondering what type of thing you do for a living..bet it's somethin really top line!...only being nosey mate so feel free to decline/no need for specifics, was just interested:)
oh, is that what they are? I thought maybe they were lollipops. Anyway, they're by Jeff Koons.
Chris, I tried changing that and it transformed my Google page into an iGoogle page, full of rubbish I don't want. Any idea how to restore the standard Google.co.uk home page?
Just go to top right hand corner and click on classic.
For Gonzo00:

I wish I was working in 'something really top line'. I've been largely unemployed for the past three years! However, I do a fair bit of casual work which includes organising traffic and pedestrian surveys across large parts of the country. If you've been questioned about pedestrianisation in Leicester or bus usage in Hastings, I've probably been the guy trying to coordinate the activities of a dozen or so other casual staff. I've spent most of this afternoon researching suitable sites for traffic analysis for TRICS:

Lol Chris can yew come and organise the buses round here please xxx
For Jno:

Crapmemory has answered your question but, if you ever find that you don't like a 'personalised' page on a website, you can always revert to the standard page by deleting cookies from that site.

They've got buses in Norfolk, Shaney? I didn't even know that they'd discovered the wheel up there yet ;-)
thanks, folks. To get rid of Mr Koons' oeuvre, I suppose I'll have to wait until Google do it themselves.
Haha ..most of our buses are on their last legs ....let alone wheels xx
