I sold my Time Share about 4 years ago and although I am on ex-directory I still am getting Time Share Buyers ringing me up virtually every evening asking if I would like to sell mine to them. I am forever asking them to not ring me again and delete my name off their computer but to no avail. What can I do to stop these people? How did they get my number in the first place?

I don't believe that there is anything you can do. Most of the calls come from abroad.
They originally got your number from a database run by the timeshare operator at your (former) resort and just pass it (or sell the information) around between one another.

Probably the best bet is to waste their time and money.
Start with 'that sounds wonderful - please tell me more'. Then quietly put the phone on the side and creep away. Return in about 5 minutes to see if they are still talking.

First thing you do is get their name and their company's address before you speak to them any further.

Then send a letter to them, stating, "Under Section 11 of the Data Protection Act 1998, I require you to remove my personal details from your database. I do not wish to be contacted by your company for the purposes of marketing, and furthermore, under Section 10 of the Data Protection Act, I demand you stop processing my data and delete it from your records as processing is causing me unwarranted distress by violating my right to privacy as enshrined in Article 8 of the Human Rights Act 1998.

You have 21 days to respond to my S10 notice, informing me of what you intend to do.

If I am unsatisfied with the response I receive, I will be contacting the Information Comissioner's Office who may legally enforce your complaince."

You can also contact the Telephone preference service and ask for your phone number to be removed. Can't remember the contact but am sure you'll find it if you Google it.
