DVD recorder query

Really sorry if I'm I'm asking an obvious question, but before I start wrestling with the cables I want to know if it will be worthwhile. I've just got my forst dvd recorder and I was wondering if I can hook it up to my video and record my videos? It's an Acoustic Solution DS-8637, if that has any bearing on it.

Provided your VCR has an output (they all do!) and the DVD recorder has an input (again, they all do) and you have a cable that connects said output to said input, then yes you can do as you have asked.

Some pre-recorded video tapes have copy protection on them, most older ones will be ok to copy but your recorder will say if it can't record the tape by displaying some sort of message I'm sure.

You'll be able to copy anything you recorded off the TV yourself but you won't be able to copy commercial videos because of macrovision protection.

One way around this is to buy a Mocrovision Removal Scart lead to connect the two together. They are quite pricey so it depends how many you want to do.
