My partner is a primary school teacher, and after a long day of having to raise her voice to be heard, her voice and throat has suffered. Can anybody recommend any remedies that will help?

I am tempted to say a medal - but a proper answer would be Honey and Lemon Strepsils - or if a natural remedy is preferred - a tablesp of chopped Sage or Thyme leaves steeped in 500ml of boiling water is soothing and antiseptic. Adding a dessert spoon of glycerine is even better.
A spoonful of honey also works
Port and brandy is used by many singers in the theatre.
I'm a singer in a band and have been told by pro's not to eat strepsils or the like as the high sugar content only encourages germs to breed?? don't know if it's true or not but i swear by pineapple in it's own juice whenever my voice starts to go

For a sore throat, my mum always recommends what her mum used to give her : A spoonful of Honey in a mug of hot water with a couple of drops of Lemon juice added in.
