we were usually in school for haymaking but during the summer when the combine came out we were always out in the field til dusk getting the bales onto the low loader, when I was about 12 and my sister 14 we used ro pitchfork a bale between us up to 5 rows high on the long trailers, one was called the Queen mary, don't know why, but it was a really long flat trailer
