I may receive 47,000 in a redundancy payment on the 30-31/32004 and know that the first 30,000 is tax free, paying 22% on the remaining 17,000.

Any ideas of the best way to save on paying too much tax on the 17,000 ?

thanks......

Make sure you redundancy cheque/payment is dated after your last day of employment otherwise it might not qualify as redundancy pay (leastways that's what my personnel director told me when I was made redundant). I don't think there is anything you can do about the tax on the 17,000
