Hi foodies, how long can raw homemade beef burgers be safely kept in the fridge before cooking? I used pre-packed mince from Sainsburys - made them on Monday and was hoping to eat them on Wednesday. They're on a plate covered with cling film. Thanks!
hi to be honest i really would say it wouldnt be as safe to eat them wednesday. when the mince is packaged they are sealed to stay fresh and as soon as you open it it really needs to be used. also it depends what you have mixed in to make burgers, if its raw egg like burger would usually be made i would say its really not safe to have them any later than monday evening. the cling film only covers them it will not really preserve freshness especially when other ingredients are mixed in! best to buy some more mince and start again. sure it only takes a few mins to mix up and they will be so delicious fresh!! p.s. add a few drops of tabasco sauce and paprika to the mixture, mmm gorgeous!!!!!!
Hi, there be no egg involved - just soy, worcestershire sauces, onion, chilli, coriander, s&p. Made 4 burgers, ate two on Monday - so it looks the remainder are destined for the bin??
of course they will be fine if it was pork or chicken id say different, either eat em today or freeze. A lot of poppycock talked sbout food dangers common sense rules.
Mamya
Nooooo. Don't throw them away!
I would eat them if I was you. I'm not really seeing the difference between sealed mince bought from Supermarket and a bag of mince bought from proper butchers as far as how long it will last?
So long as they smell OK I'm sure the burgers will be fine.
Hmmm, I will give them an exploratory sniff and if all bodes well I will cremate them under the grill. Hopefully my bot will still be my friend in the morning. Thanks y'all.
