Flights to Europe

Im am backpacking Europe with a few friends this summer, and was wondering if anyone knew where it was cheapest to fly there? or if anyone knows of any other reason to start in one city over another, let me know. thanx

The way my son did it was to decide which airport to go to within 2 weeks of wanting to do and just picked up a �1 plus taxes flights on availability. He ended up in one of the obscure northern Italian towns that Ryanair / EasyJet flies to and took things from there. Ditto coming back.
Prices change on a dayby-day basis according to demand.
