reading Chakkas post reminded me of this.
My sister in law can't wear a watch because every watch she has ever had (and thats quite a few over the years) has stopped after a few hours of her putting it on. They slow down and then just stop. They start again when she takes them off but stop when they are returned to her wrist.
Is there any scientific explanation as to why this should happen.

Yep I know my bad. I saw it and didn't read the rest.
I was about to put it in but I had to rush off and pick up my son from college.

I had a relative who had the same effect on things electrical. These also included mobile telephones, street lighting and even the automatic coin collector at Dartford Tunnel. We put it down to extra external powers and often occurred at a moment of stress where there was a rapid synapse buildup of electrical energy.
