Cannot get digibox channel on video...

Hi
I've purchased a very cheap digibox and have tried rigging up to my TV also with a VCR, however, although all the channels are coming through the TV and digibox fine, I cannot find the digibox channel on my VCR (in able to tape programmes).

I feel this is something to do with the way I have routed the wiring as follows (in laymans terms, as I am hopeless with all things technical): Main ariel lead into digibox, then another lead from there to the VCR and then from the VCR to the TV. Scart plugs as follows (both the digibox and video only have ONE scart lead plug at their rears): Scart from digibox directly to Ext 1 on back of TV and a second Scart from rear of VCR to Ext 2 on rear of TV.

It also doesn't help that instructions in all the booklets (TV, VCR and digibox) all say different things, in fact the digibox doesn't even show how to wire anything other than digibox to TV.

I'm very confused.... can anyone help please (in very simple terms :-).

Oh and I have tried 'toggling' (is that the correct term?) between the Ext 1, Ext2, SVHS2 and AV buttons on the TV remote control plus have tried the AV button on the VCR but still cannot find it.

Many thanks.

It shows you need a scart from digibox to video - you need a splitter box like this:

Try Maplins or any high street electrical retailer if you don't want to buy online

Thanks for your prompt reply Faymousse.

Actually, I've just remembered that I already have a Scart splitter that I bought for something else and never used it!!

I'll try it out later on and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again.
The only way to record from the Digibox is through the scart
(AV) - which means you can only watch the VCR through the ariel, you really need a VCR with 2 scarts

Following the link above and their instructions, it would appear that I could do with 2 x scarts on both the VCR and the digibox. I already had one splitter which I wasn't using and have bought another one this afternoon (probably would have been cheaper to buy a slightly more expensive digibox with 2 x scarts on the back :-). Tomorrow, when I have more time (because I get very flustered trying to do these things when I am pushed for time), I'll try it again, following all the advice and let you know how I get on.

Hi. The problem I have now is that the scart switch box I had already is a 'bit complicated' for me :-(

It has a Switch Button on the side with a red light. One scart is labelled AV2, the other AV1/VCR.

Also on it are two small diagrams showing the Switch depressed saying AV2 to TV + Record to AV1 and the Switch Out saying AV1 to TV.

The other Scart splitter I bought was a 'Tesco Value' one with no complicated instructions. Is the complicated one 'overkill' or is it better? I'm tying myself in knots here trying to work out the combination of wiring and switches because using both the splitters now means I cannot even find the digibox channels anywhere..... HELP!!!

This thread is now a long way down the list and I don't know if posting a new message brings it up to the top.... if not I may have to start a new thread :-(

Thanks anyone......
