I currently have a MAC and am supplied Broadband by Virgin. I have a Speedtouch USB modem.

I want to connect to XBOX LIVE but the etheret cable supplied with my XBOX has a different connection to that in the modem.

How do I connect? I presume I just need another modem/router. Can anybody recommend a good one?

Im a complete technophobe so simple answers please!

Im not 100% sure but my friends have XBOX Live and they have had to buy a wireless adapter of some sort for about 60 .
you need a router, you don't need a wireless one unless you need to use the xbox via wireless (i.e. it's too far away from where the router would need to go for a cable) but then you also need the wireless adaptor for the xbox

Get a netgear from your local PC world, should cost you about 40quid max
oh just spotted you get you broadband from virgin, if it's adsl then as above, if not and it's cable post back and i'll point you to what you need
you can also plug your usb modem directly into the back of your xbox in the usb port but it wont work if you use the front usb ports. the best solution would be to get a router though.
