A Nice Surprise

After a nightmare few years that culminated in the loss of my father-in-law last week, I got a lovely surprise on Tuesday. We were just making the final preparations for the funeral on wednesday when there was a knock at the door, the postman with a package. On opening it there was a box (containing a beautiful fountain pen), a cheque for �50 and a letter from the Telegraph informing me I had won the Herculis Crossword a couple of weeks ago. With everything that has been going on I had missed my name in the paper (fortunately it was still in the paper bin). What a lovely surprise, thanks to all AB'ers who might have provided any help.

I have just logged on here to see what questions have been asked re the Telegraph GK crossword. My father passed away on Friday, at the age of 87, having been ill for months, so I can understand what you were going through. I have spent days and nights in the hospital, but have managed to attempt the GK and Herculis crosswords at quiet times. I am now worn out, but am going to sit for a while and take time out. I think ABers are just great people, and I will cheat today and copy down the answers then do the rest myself!
