My son is five months old and has outgrown his bath support. It's now a bit awkward suporting him with one hand and trying to wash him with the other. I was just wondering how all of you bath your young one's? Any tips?

Ive been having the same trouble with my 4 month old when my partner is unable to help me,.  But now, I dont fill the bath with so much water and hold baby with my left arm under babys arm (the arm furthest away), if you know what I mean.  You can use the other arm to wash baby.
I remember it was very awkward and I just did it very quickly to get it over and done soon.
i used to lay a small towel on the bottom of the baby bath to stop baby slipping -make sure the towel hangs over the bath edges .baby feels secure and it will be a lot easier for you to enjoy bath time with baby

I've done it by rolling up some towels & putting them in the bath so they create a sort of towel support to lay the baby's head against...freeing up both hands to do the washing. Obviously you never even turn your head away for a second (before I get accused of drowning children!)

This way makes a lot of wet towels, but it worked for me.

If you get in with them it makes it easier to support them. Sit them between your legs facing away from you with their head resting on your belly.

Get your dressing gown and their towel at the ready though, or you'll both get cold and grumpy!

When mine were that age I used to take them in the shower with me, giving them a gentle introduction at first and making sure they never got any running over their face.
At that age I bathed my daughter in a washing up bowl. She used to just lean against the edge of it and couldn't slide down.
I put mine in the normal bath in the bathroom laying down on one of those sponge baby bath thingies.  She was fine. They're not expensive and are available anywhere (supermarkets, chemists etc).

hi we bought a bath seat from lloyds chemist its made by safety first, i think our 8 month old loves it and she has been bathing in it for about 3 months.

It looks like a potty with high sides it has suckers on the bottom.

I can e-mail you a photo of it if you like....

try the sink in the kitchen, small enough to not have any problems

I don't know if your baby will be old enough to use one confidently enough yet but we used a Floateze chair when our daughter was between 6-24 months, basically its like a rubber ring enclosed chair, but at 5 months obviously  they may or may not be able to sit unaided yet. Our daughter loved it and you can also lie them back on it against the back edge of the float to rinse their hair.when washing it and avoiding any tantrums or scares for the child.
