left propert at someones house and they chucked it
my husband left my radio at someones house 5 weeks ago - went back today to collect and they said they have thrown it away - after denying it'd been left there - although they had acknowledged that it was a quality valuable radio. what would be my rights, would this be suitable for a small claims court? please help

Or, if you look at it from their point of view, you hadn't tried to get it back, so why should they hang on to it?
And quite aside from anything else, it'd probably cost more than a new one to go through the motions.

thanks for your largely unhelpful replies!!!
my husband had left the radio there and should've gone to get it sooner but was bed ridden for some of that time due to a back injury. we tried to contact the eople but to no avail and when he was able to gt there to get it, they said he hadn't left it there. after i assured him that he had, he called them up and they said they'd thrown it out in the rubbish. i thought this was rude to say the least and it would only show some courtest to call us before they did that (but i don't believe they had done). i actually did my research and it would've been eligible - i wouldn't have wanted to take it so far but the peoples attitude made me feel like i'd been done over and i didn't like that. so....i called them to say, calmly and precisely what i felt and what i was willing to do if we could not reach an agreement. they gave me 150 to replace the radio and i considered that fair......so there!

The answers weren't so much negative as downright cynical... and worthy of much contempt.
