Can we have a bit more information, please? It would help to know:
(a) how close you are to the gentleman concerned ( - you might choose something different for a neighbour or for your father or grandfather) ; and
(b) your budget.

As a starting point though, can I suggest some sort of shared activity, rather than a physical gift? For example, a trip to the theatre together, a meal in a nice restaurant or a day by the sea.

How about a nice book. Perhaps of local history that he can relate to. Or a nice plant for the garden if hes into gardening.
