It would take a huge amount of genetic fiddling and anti-rejection stuff to make it even remotely possible, and any such result would be wvery likely to heve severe deformities and illnesses. Even cloning Dolly the Sheep took hundreds of attempts before it was successful. Blending two different species would be far more difficult.
If it were possible, then it is likely that humans and chimps and bonobos and gorillas would have been interbreeding for millions of years already.
Species don't interbreed for a reason. It's against their natural instincts. Of course there must be some cases. Every rule has an exception - actually, can anyone think of a rule that doesn't?
Mules were bred by humans, as are all cross-breeds. Whether it is possible or not, it is not natural for these species to mix - and the thought of anyone 'breeding' with an ape is very very sick. As for mules, the original concept was of course wrong (yet another example of man playing God) but now they are a species and what's done is done. They are just as lovely as horses and donkeys.
But do they have health problems? It's disgusting how we have bred dogs to the extent that pedigree dalmations are often born deaf, classic collies' skulls are now so narrow their brains are compressed, many dachsunds cannot support their mid-rifs and bull dogs have so many health problems, such as breathing difficulties, infections etc.
