England & the EU use the chip credit card, and I understand it is getting harder for Americans to use the old style card in their countries, any suggestions
How does an American go about getting a Chip Credit/Debit card that will work in the UK so as to not have difficulty buying things in stores.
Last year our American debit worked in ATMs so we only used cash, but I don't like having to walk around with large amounts of money on me. Now I'm told my debit card may not work in all ATM machines.
There should be no problem with your cards working in UK ATM's as they do not use the chips at all, my bank card is an ATM card only and that has no chip on it at all.
Just get it swiped and sign for it. A lot of shops over here still do that as common practice. Others ask for a signature if you cannot remember your pin so it should not be a problem
