Are any other people like me and hate the way we in the UK have adopted the american way of speaking. I mean I had never heard the phrase I "snuck" up on someone or that "snuck" in" Whatever happened to sneaked. Also why do the youth of today have to say "Oh my God" at nearly every sentence they utter. I honestly believe we have become a nation of braindead imbeciles. Except me of course.

I understand what you mean. I guess it might be a trend. Everyone wants to be like everyone else. Such behaviours exudes illiteracy.

Personally I don't have a problem with Americanisms. I think "We snuck in the back way" sounds much better than "We sneaked in the back way".

It's interesting to compare American phrases and their British equivalents. For instance, in the US they say, "Knock yourself out" whereas here in the UK, we say "Fill yer boots".
