Con Email

My girlfriend recived this email today in response to an add for a new flatmate she has on the net i have told her not to reply as it looks like a con (see bellow)

Thanks for your email,i appreciate your mail,the price is okay for me,but first i think my inroduction is needed.My name is Julie Roger.Am 24years of age,am easy going person to live with, I'm 5'7' straight.i have no friends over there except you lol.....because i have never been to UK before.Then I will do as instructed due to the terms and condition of the place i adapt very quickly to what you do or the person that lives there do so it will not be a problem for me.I am in need of the room very badly i will move in by this month because there are still some arrangements i need to make here..How far is the place for the bus station, police station, gas station and shopping plaza.

Therefore,I want to tell you that the producer of the film i am acting will be incharge of my first 2months rent with deposit and the rest of the months i will pay you monthly when i get paid by him because we want to shoot many films and from my own side of the calculation fee for the 2months rent is �1440.He said they will be paying by cheque in full settlement for the 2months rent. So,I want you to get back to me with the names that will be on the cheque as well as the contact address by which the payment will be send to so that i can forward it straight to him and his associate incharge of the film to issue the payment as they are ready to issue out a cheque of �3,800 by which you shall receive very soon.

Why you are receiving this amount of money is because the producers are the one that will be responsible for my flight fare and feeding allowance for 3months and they all agreed to make the payment for the room to you and you will help me send the excess money to an agency here so as to make a well and fast arrangement of the booking of fight ticket in order to meet up the schedule in UK.I want you to email me back that you got my mail Then expecting your reply back today.Thanks and don't forget to get back to me with your full names and full address with your contact mobile phone number incase of emergency.I will send you my pics as soon as it is ready on my computer just to know what i look like so get back to me with this details requsted so that the payment can be issued to you.

I have to agree with revfunk slightly on this, if you advertise a flat online you are going to get all sorts of replies.

If you think it is a scam just delete it, nobody will investigate it as there are so many millions of these mails floating about on the net so nobody has enough resources to investigate them all.

The con goes something like this.........

She will receive a cheque/bankers draught for far more money than she has requested. It will then be pointed out to her that there has been a mistake and she will be asked to quickly refund the difference. Once she has sent the money back she will find that the original cheque has been dishonoured.

A new take on and old con, I'm afraid............:o(

It's a definite con. Usually they are models etc looking for a room. You can contact the email address provider from where the email was sent...hotmail etc.

If the site where your gf advertised her room does not already have awarning about scammers somewhere, it may be a good idea to forward it t them. Else consign it to your deleted items.

Good luck with the flatmate search. I've found some lovely people by advertising on the internet. It's cheaper than the local paper too.
