Sticky issue

One for the industrial chemists out there. I'm wrapping presents with lots of sticky tape and I'm wondering...How come the glue sticks like crazy to one side and not the other..? Obviously if it did you would have a reel problem (bad joke).

Apparently one side of the tape is treated with a release coating so the sticky side doesn't stick to it. If you want to know more (or a more technical explanation) click here:
