Maggots in the Wheelie bin

Guess this is the place to post this question...?

Anyone got any ideas on how to stop those flipping flies laying eggs which hatch into maggots under the lip of our black wheelie bin. (household waste)
I've tried washing it weekly using detergent, bleach and disinfectant.
Tried using moth balls and an air freshner inside but that did'nt work either.
I also tried putting the original bag of waste/food into another to try to stop attracting the flies in the first place but still they came.
With summer approaching I would appreciate any ideas that may help !

Try spraying it with Raid or some other flykiller. I know I had a problem of lots of fruit flies inside my wheelie bin so I sprayed it with Raid, closed the lid and... Voila! the fruit flies were history and haven't been a problem since.

Try leaving the lid open and let the birds have some treats, if you have as you say kept it clean, then there should be no smell.

If you go to your local hardwear shop you will find a range of fly killing products - one of these is a pen that you draw on to the place you want to kill the flies & when they land it kills them. Another is a disc you stick - usually onto a window - & contact kills flies.
Alternately you could try spraying the affected areas with a household flea product for treating the house not the animal. These have a similar residual effect lasting 3 to 6 months indoors, but since they are designed to work on fleas I'm not sure if they will work on flies.
