Unusual fruit...........
4 Answers
I tried a fruit in work the other day that a friend of mine had bought whilst staying somewhere. It was called a 'Custard Apple Fruit' (or Apple Custard, can't remember). Anyway, it was about twice the size and shape of a kiwi fruit and had a hard skin on it that was brown and patterned almost like a snake skin. It had to be cut in half and the pulpy fruit scooped out and eaten with a spoon. I thought that it tasted really nice, it really did taste like appely custard - my question is does anyone know anything about where i can buy this fruit, and anything about it's nutritional value? Never heard of it before.

I live in Southern Spain and can pick them off the trees here on some waste land near my house... Indeed they do taste like apples and custard but aren't those pips annoying!
They also sell these Custard Apples in large Tescos, I was in the Tescos in Shoreham the other day (the one that has a macdonalds and a marks and spencers under the same roof) and I bought some there...along with some mangoes that I have never seen before, they are labelled as "special mangos" I've not tried them yet.
