Hi there
Just some further info for you. This would not have been a decision made just by probation, a MAPPA level 2 means that there will be involvement in his case by more than one of the agencies,i.e. police, probation, social services, etc. Because of the nature of the offence they need to be careful to manage the risk appropriately on his release with regards to where he will be living, how far away the victim lives and how it will affect them and also whether there may be any repurcussions towards your partner that could put him or his family at risk. So it works both ways really and is standard procedure in offences like this regardless of the circumstances. Level 2 are not generally very high risk cases. Once his supervision ends he will no longer be under MAPPA (in most cases anyway, unless there are ongoing issues after his release). Hope this helps!
