Hi Starwars,
I am sorry you feel so rotten. This is not an area I have any experience in, but I have heard that many many people who are considered high risk, and even some people who are told the baby has SB or Downs go on to have a healthy problem free baby. Remember this is still only a high risk and will probably turn out fine. Just find out all the information you can, try to concentrate on everything you are being told about the test and don't be scared to ask for clarification if there is anything you don't understand.
good luck

Hi
I had the triple test and it came back very high risk for downs so I had the horrible decision about whether to have an amnio(which has its own risks). In the end I did and all came back fine. I think my result was 1 in 150 which was devastating for me but I do know of people that have been 1 in 2 or 1 in 3 and all has been fine. Try not to worry too much about it until you have a definate answer, you could be making yourself ill worrying about something that isn't going to hapen.
If you need to talk send me your email address.

Hi,
I'm 19 weeks pregnant, and thats exactly the reason i didn't get the test for downs etc.
in my eyes it would have made no difference knowing or not, i would have still kept my baby.
All you can think about now is that in a few months time you will have your little angel, and whether it has downs or spina bifida or not it will be perfect to you.
Don't stress though, it doesn't help you or baby and puts you both at greater risk.
My next door neighbour was told the chances of her last baby having Downs was almost definite, and she came out perfect with nothing wrong with her.
Just have a little faith and try not to worry.

Thank you all for bein so caring, I didnt want the test either but my midwife was very pushy and i caved in. I have been told that i was just over the cut of point for spina bibida which meant my risk although higher than normal was still not to high I had a detailed scan and have to have one every 4 weeks and so far the scan came back i have a perfectly healthy baby boy. Even is my baby had a problem i will still love him anyway although of course i think i will worry now till i have him in my arms.
I now have a new midwife who is great.
I just wanted to say that i know i dont know any of you but you all feel like friends and im so glad i have you guys. At least i dont feel alone.
