Replacing Linux with Windows

We've got a few PCs with Linux (Fedora) on them and I would like to install Windows instead.

Before doing so I obviously want to check the hardware specifications to see which version of Windows the PCs can cope with.

However, I don't seem to be able to see the system specifications in Linux, possibly because I'm logged in as a user (we don't know the admin account details).

Is there an alternative, or could I get all the information I need from the BIOS?

I'd go the BIOS route as the easiest

Hi Chucky! - Could you tell me a little about Bios and how you go about performing that task? When my computer starts up I do see press F something for Bios. What is Bios and what is it necessary for?

Of course I could Google search and read up on it but it's not the same as when you and those in your league explains on here. You all explain in a more understandable manner. Thank you. xxxx

The BIOS (Basic Input Output System) is the very basic level embedded software that tells all the parts of the computer what to do and how to interact with each other before the the software installed on the computers hard drive loads. Without it, your machine would be simply be a disparate collection of hardware that simply couldn't work together.

It's probably saying press f2 to enter setup/BIOS, just hit the button and go have a look round, when you exit the BIOS you will get the option to exit without saving changes so don't be worried about anything.
