Does anyone have methods to relieve PMS? I do
12 Answers
I suffer from terrible PMS and always have very sore breasts for 2 weeks leading up to my period, but the main problem is the mood swings and the morose feelings, as well as a bit of aggression.
I've now found an unusual way of relieving these symptoms and it's by having an orgasm. I would assume the release of seratonins help to balance out hormone levels.
Does anyone know exactly why this would help? So now if I get a bit moody and morose, my partner helps out and we've made it part of regular PMS therapy.

I've been on every anti-depressant known to man for PMS mood swings and have also tried EPO - neither of which helped.
But I totally agree with the orgasm bit! Gets the seratonin going better than Prozac! Since being in a more long-term relationship my PMS has reduced drastically, which I don't think is totally down to my state of mind and being happy! It certainly feels more physical.
I've never found anything to help with the sore breasts bit, I'm afraid - I just wear a slightly more padded and substantial bra in the run up to my period to cushion them a bit and stop any bouncing (which hurts like hell!)
One thing I have found to help with the mood swings though is having a carb-based food every couple of hours - just an oatcake or rice cake or something equally low-calorie. It really seems to even my blood sugar levels and stop me turning into a mad mood-swinging monster.
Hope this helps - I totally sympathise (and keep up those orgasms!)

Glad SRH doesn't think I'm a mad cow like Raggy Roman appears to.
Over the years I tried everything, but having an orgasm does honestly make all the difference. I wish there was some relief for the sore breasts though.
I know exactly how you feel SRH. Mine are at their worse, first thing in the morning and they go up at least half a cup size. Wonder why that happens?

Ha ha Velvetee - know what you mean - if only they could keep that extra 'volume' throughout the month! Probably due to water retention. As I said, a comfy, slightly padded all over bra, really does make things a bit easier - especially if you bump yourself by accident with your arm etc (God that hurts!). And, no, you're not a mad cow! You know the old story - why does it take 10 women with PMS to change a lightbulb? BECAUSE IT DOES! OKAY! ;) At the end of the day, you're not alone!
