hi, can anybody tell me if there is way of seeing when (time and date) my laptop last connected to the internet (without looking at History, as that can easily be deleted)?  Thanks.

Do you have a firewall or antivirus? they often keep a log record of computer activity, maybe worth a look!

If you access the internet via a dial-up modem rather than through a network you can set the modem to write to a log which you can setup and view thru:

 

Control Panel -> Phone & Modem Options -> Modems -> Properties -> Diagnostics
