what type of disk do I need to use to copy videos from my PC to disk.

Do you simply want to back them up to disk so they can be viewed again on a computer or put them on disk for viewing on a DVD player or suchlike, if it's the later there may be a bit more involved to get them so a DVD player will play them

Paying for the download doesn't necessarily make it legal, btw. Only if you paid an authorised sales agent.
Unless you bought the progs from a reputable site (say, iTunes) you may well have been stung. A common scam is for folks to charge for P2P software and claim that it is legal to download using it.
