New License?

My Dad, who is 79, has a speeding fine SPF30 with 3 points on his license. As it happened in April 2005, can he now get it removed from his license? If so, how much would it cost him?

three years have lapsed since these points were put on the licence ,.....however he will have to wait , until april 2009 ...until this endorsement can actually be removed from his licence ...... the cost of the licence , is in the region of �29 ....... to have a licence with this endorsement from april 2005 removed ...... but 11 months have to pass before , this procedure can be , adhered to ...

or he could just leave them there, put the licence away and ignore them - it's a lot cheaper

I agree with panic button, just leave them on there and ignore them, once they have expired it makes no difference if they are physically printed on the license or not.

However if he really does want them removed you can always change the license to a different address (yours?) and then change it back again a couple of months later for free and the points will be gone.

Thanks for answers. Reason I asked was that I was getting renewal quotes for his insurance and one company said he could have the endorsement removed after three years, even though insurance companies ask for the last five years convictions/endorsements. She said it would be helpful to him to remove it so that if he racked any more speeding fines they would not tot up!

I think she is talking rubbish

a. Once they have expired they do not 'tot up', even if they are still on there.

b. I have never had an insurance company ask to see my licence.

I'm not sure whether it's legal to put a wrong address on your licence to avoid the �28.. it would certainly be a pain to apply for a licence and apply for another immediately afterwards.

Why not just apply for a change of photograph on form D1? I have done this as since April it has been free.

I understand that if points have completely expired, when your new licence is received they don't appear on any new one you apply for.

even if you use the alternatve address , as OLDHAM fan suggested ,,...... thev driver licence number always remains the same.... so the popints will not be removed straight away .....
