The injection needed is only to stop the heart in later pregnancies. Most health authorities wont give a TOP for social reasons past 16 weeks. SO this rule is void. YOu can actually have a termination of pregnancy at any stage in the pregnancy if their is proof the either the mother will either be at great risk mentally or physically.
Abortion isn't an easy choice either way no matter what stage of pregnancy you are in. I had a termination at 16 weeks and 1 day. It wasn't the nicest experience of my life by a long shot. I informed my NHS service that I wanted a termination at 6 weeks, I also told them I wanted a medical termination but the quickest I could get into the clinic was 4 weeks later. I got pregnant whilst using dianette and steroids for asthma so continuing with the pregnancy was out of the question. MY appointment for termination was held back because I couldnt travel to BRighton, 200 miles away and my consultant was on holiday. Apparently a consultant ahd to perform the procedure as I was asthmatic.
The best thing this country could do is to run more clinics to give girls the option to have an early medical termination. It would cost less money and be far less physically traumatic to the girls/women in question.
The old babies can survive at 22 weeks, hold no water with me. It takes a lot of medical intervention to help a baby born at 32 weeks survive let alone one at 22/23/24 weeks. Not to mention the physical and mental developmental problems these children have.
