How does this experience work?
How does something - like a piece of music, or a scene on TV or whatever - affect us to make us 'go cold'? Get goosebumps, etc?
Often pondered that one, y'know.

Well, a piece of media triggering off certain physiological responses is acheived in various ways. for example, in a horror movie, a high pitched violin with a screech may cause you to feel goosebumps because as primates, a screech was a warning sign and some say this is the reason why we feel get goosebumps now.
Also, it may be a Pavlovian response to certain stimuli- ie, if you associate a piece of music with sadness, then hearing it in a different context will still trigger those feelings of sadness.
I do not know the scientific answer or anything like that but i think that it is all to do with emotional responses to things.
There is a girl at my school who sang a love song for a school contest and her voice sent shivers down my spine it was great!
Maybe its just an internal way of expressing emotions to our self.
