if an ex partner leaves some of her stuff saying that they dont want it when they move out. do i have a right to do anything with it?

My advice is get a third party like a solicitor to write to her, asking her to give written permission for disposal.
It may cost you �20 or so, but if she trys saying the Rolex she left has gone, it could cost you more trying to prove her wrong.
Cover all bases, and never give anyone an inch !!

I would very carefully box up anything that's been left behind & store it properly.
Write to her & let her know you're going to keep the stuff for a specific period (say three to six months) then send the letter by registered post so that she has to sign for it & you'll have proof she received it. Then a week before the end of the time period, write to her again to let her know you'll be getting rid of the stuff, again send the letter by registered post.
