There is a robins nest in our garden and I have just found a tiny robin that had fallen out of the nest obviously too youg to leave yet so I have popped it back in. Was thsi the right thing to do or will it leave a scent on the bird and frighten awat the mother?
Oh! My apologies ray!! I meant to mention you and LL for help on this - you are such lovely people and so knowleagable with birdie life. Think the messages crossed over!
At the time i was trying to type and pup was demanding attention - bringing me his old sock for tug o' war!!!
I'm here! I agree with Ray I am afraid. It is down to luck whether the magpies will find them! :o(. Very sad, but in this case we can't really help. That's nature I'm afraid.
I have been to the reserve today and the little runt marsh harrier is still hanging in there. Keep your fingers crossed for him. He is less than half the size of his two brothers/sisters!
The two little buddas as I call them are doing fine they are sitting there all plumped up opening their little beaks when Mum arrives. The dreaded magpies have gone I saw them being dive bombed by a couple of blackbirds. I hope the buddas survive the night it is starting to feel cold here in North East England
Hi alfie, lottie and motb, alfie no apologies needed, your knowledge is far greater than mine as well, how are things today motb? hope they survived the night, the good thing is they will get stronger every day, as long as they keep the noise down so as not to attract unwelcome predators, please say they are ok, take care all, and speak later, Ray xx
Good Morning. Everthing seems well although I have lost sight of one of the babies I am sure it is okay and probably hidden in the undergrowth. The one I can see looks a little wet but not as wet as the mother who is still feeding them often. Hope the other one turns up! Have a good feeling that they are going to survive
yeah things are improving, its stopped raining at least. It has fluffed its little feathers up to keep warm. I keep watching with my binoculars so as not to disturb them. Back to work Friday though!!!!!!urgh
