Does anyone know of any way to keep mosquitoes away. I read about eating Marmite for a week before travelling abroad, has anyone tried this or something like it? Any help appreciated.

One of the B vitamins is supposed to work pretty well - B 12

Citronella oil will work too - apply to clothing not skin

Both available from your pharamacy
The best I have ever found is Avon Skin So Soft original body oil. I have used it in mosquito-infested tropics where the mozzies were lethal, and it worked better than proprietary repellents. Someone will know someone who knows someone who is an Avon rep and can order it for you.
I have tried the marmite suggestion and as we were in a villa and doing our own breakfast, I also ate it on my toast every morning, it certainly helped, not totally bite free but a lot less than normal - son who hates marmite got bitten quite a lot so we knew the mossies were about. I have also heard about the Avon Skin So Soft and will trying this out this weekend as I am camping. This apparently gets used by the Army and you can order it online.
Marmite is vitamin B12! I hate Marmite but will take a tablet :)

Not heard the Avon so soft thing but if it works it would be good to smell nice as well as not get bitten
I have tried the Avon Skin so Soft and it definately works. If you google it, apparently it is a bit of an urban legend and there is no science behind it at all.

Put it this way - usually if 2 of us go away, I will get bitten alive and my partner will get none. Since I discovered the Skin So Soft, I have had about 3 bites per holiday as opposed to about 30 before.

It's only the stuff in the greeny coloured spray that works, none of the perfumed stuff - far cheaper than mossie repellant I was buying from Boots before :-)
Forgot tp mention, it's the dry oil spray that works, still in the greeny coloured packaging.
This one.
DEET... the army use it in jungles... different strengths are available depending on where you are going.
^^^ and I've used it throughout SE Asia where the mozzies are real ******* - thoroughly reccomend it.
Mel Gibson used the Avon spray when filming Braveheart too!
I used it when in Scotland and yes it does work.
hiya, also another thing is that mossies love smells so don't wear after shave, use unscented deo, shampoo, hand cream or fabric softener on clothes etc....there are plenty of products to keep mossies off that smell foul!...you can use a plug with talbets for your room which worked a treat...if you can get one a mossie nets for your bed which you must tie in a knot when not in bed or the little varmits will get in while you're out.....

Yeast tablets are supposed to help - haven't tried it myself though.
And keep ya feet clean and fresh... mozzies are attracted to cheesy feet... really...
I hate the chemical smell of mosquito repellents - I feel repellent myself.

I was in Brasil in January and I'm still scratching, I used Deet but it's hard to apply everywhere and it gets sticky so I might just try the Skin So Soft when I go to India next month. Thanks
I have used a roll-on agent called Mosquito Milk (was available at Boots - tropical strength) to good effect.
