Teenage Morons
On me way home at about 1730 and heard on Radio Cumbria that a Moron had filmed himself, using a Mobile Phone, kicking a lamb to death!!
My blood runs cold as I type this and the tears well up!!
Can England have come to this??
The lamb was paralized and had to be put down.
I would genuinely love to do the same to the Moron, in public, with others but we must be above this sort of reaction, they say!!!
When will the "worm turn" and we can be rid of such scum!!

Well, frankly, what's the worst possible loss someone is going to suffer as a result of a lamb being killed? Not having chops for dinner? Or perhaps not being able to sell it?
Really, if you look at it it's pretty inconsequential. A fine would likely cover all the costs to replace it and some form of punishment. But it was a lamb. Not saying I would go around kicking one to death (or especially condone it) but, hey, it's not exactly endangering the lamb as a species is it?

It was just a lamb, and that's that.
Course, if it was just a baby human, it's not like there's a lot of practical use there either, to follow that logic.
I'm probably the most tolerant person in many areas, and I'm no saint. I'm also not a hypocrite so I acknowledge here that I eat meat.
But to have someone wilfully cause a creature pain for the sake of causing it pain... That's beyong forgiveness for me, and I have said it here before - what that toerag did to that animal should be done to him.

As far as I am aware there have been regular instances of human cruelty to animals since there was any type of recording history. So I guess some level of cruelty is here to stay sadly.
It seems that as a nation we are becoming increasingly concerned about animal welfare such as the outlawing of hunting - I mean anyone who can get pleasure from the chase and then the dismembering of a fox! Except they were middle class/upper class morons who had some political clout and it wasn't until we had a strong enough Labour administration before this atrocity could be stamped out.
Also on the Today programme Dame Jane Goodall was raising the issue of animal experimentation ( which some like myself consider extremely cruel even if there is no overt evidence any human gaining pleasure).

You can't compare a human baby to a lamb. It doesn't work. And you well know it.

Ruby, I don't mean this unkindly, but this is total bull. First, there are good ecological reasons to hunt; second, dogs actually kill quicker than most other hunting methods (shooting has more stopping power but can take a much longer time to kill); third, contrary to popular belief it isn't actually just upper/middle classes who get involved in hunting; Fifth, foxes are vermin.
How many people who abhor the lamb killing or foxhunting feel the same way about fishing? Or pigeon shooting? Or poisoning a rat/laying a mousetrap? (Granted that's got more purpose than killing a lamb for no reason but it's still an animal being killed).

Whislt I fully support you right to have a different opinion, mine is right. I don't know whether being killed by dogs is a more humane (sic) way of dispatching an animal. But, that issue aside, what is repugnant is that humans take pleasure in hunting and killing. When humans do this with other humans we class them as psycopaths. Pest control without pleasure is a different emotional response. True hunting wasn't just supported by the upper/middle classes, but you need to have some wealth, the cost of keeping a hunter (horse) is not insignificant. Foxes are not vermin. I don't intentionally kill any living things, I do massacare inseects big time when I drive, but I am anti all blood sports and the rearing and eating of animals

While finding it very difficul to raise a tear regarding the lamb (heart strings of steel me) I don't think cruelty for crueltys sake is justified.
However the punishment has to fit the crime and I think kicking a teenager to paralysis and then putting them down might be a little on the demented side as punishments go. I'm afraid in comparrison to a human life, it is just a lamb.
I sincerely hope the little s0d gets a very nasty punishment, possibly along the lines of cleaning out an abbatoire for the next year at least but I'm afraid saying that the chap in question should be treated the same way they treated the lamb oes leave me a rather flabbergarsted at the blood lust of some people.

More the chase/event than killing. Mostly.

Actually, hunts these don't just involve the people who go out on horseback. They're often large-scale social events that people across the community are involved in somehow.
I think we're derailing the thread slighty (I just shamelessly dove in for the last word), but I'd be happy to continue it elsewhere if you like.

I endorse the sentiments laid out by China regarding the lamb-kicker. Sure, we can't have people beating up lambs all the time, so he should get something, but it was just a lamb nevertheless.

Oh dear, I seem to have "Started a pretty Hare" with this one, ( no pun intended).
All I wished to do was express my disgust towards this moron who did that to a Lamb.
I did not want a Blood Sports debate as i have definite views on the subject but can't type fast enough to join in any debate.
So lets hope that this is the end to the thread and lets hope also that something nasty happens to the moron.
